Grades One through FourA Foundation Built on Wonder
The early grades are a time of steady unfolding, where academic learning takes root in story, rhythm, and hands-on experience. Each day begins with song, verse, and movement before children enter the Main Lesson, where fairy tales, fables, myths, and legends become the doorway into reading, writing, and mathematics. Waldorf-inspired education meets children where they are developmentally, trusting that letters, numbers, and ideas are best understood when they first come alive through imagination.
Outside the classroom, children tend a garden, care for goats and chickens, and learn the changing rhythms of the seasons, while inside, handwork and movement build focus, coordination, and confidence. Year by year, students grow from dreamy first graders into capable, curious fourth graders who understand that they belong to a community, and that their ideas and effort matter.

First Grade
A year of wonder and joyful discovery, where letters and numbers are born from fairy tales and children begin to read and write the words they first created themselves.

Children grow in confidence and independence, deepening their skills in reading, writing, and mathematics through fables, legends, and stories of remarkable people.

A year of transformation as children discover their own capability, caring for chicks, tending the garden, and learning to spin wool into yarn as they explore practical life skills.

Children awaken to their place within a community, exploring myths and legends, California geography, and animal studies while strengthening empathy and collaborative work.
